Alternator or battery, how do you even tell the difference?

So I've got this situation where my car has been struggling to start in the mornings and the battery light flickers on the dashboard every now and then, but the weird thing is once the car is running everything seems fine and the voltage gauge shows normal readings, so I'm genuinely confused whether I'm dealing with a failing battery or something more serious like the alternator not charging properly. I already replaced the battery about eight months ago so I'm leaning towards it being an alternator issue, but I've heard so many stories of people replacing perfectly good alternators because a shop misdiagnosed the problem and I really don't want to be that guy who wastes money on parts I don't actually need. I've been reading up on how to test these things myself with a multimeter but honestly I'm not that confident with electrical stuff and I'd rather have a professional take a look before I start throwing money at the wrong solution. I'm thinking of taking it to a place that offers Quality auto electrical diagnostics and repair in Musaffah Industrial Area because from what I understand they actually have the proper load testers and diagnostic tools to pinpoint exactly what's going on rather than just guessing. Has anyone here had a similar experience where you couldn't tell if it was the battery or alternator and how did you finally figure it out, I'd really appreciate some advice before I make a decision on where to take it.
