The
excellent 18-hole Links-style course at Eastern Star was designed and built by Robert
Trent Jones Jr., one of the world's foremost golf course designers.
Playing to a par-72, over 7,134 yards from the blue tees, the course is set
among 530 acres of what used to be a coconut palm plantation.
It offers a wide range of challenges for the experienced golfer, as well as a
solid challenge for the beginner. Very much a 'thinking-man's course' that
can be successfully navigated with a little strategy and a few well-positioned
shots.
The signature hole is the fiendishly picturesque par 3 fourth, which lulls
players into admiring the scenery, rather than paying attention to their task of
playing over water to a heavily bunkered green.
