One of the most beautiful courses in Thailand. Great golf in an idyllic setting

Played here on May 3 - excellent condition from tee to green. Caddies were superb in reading greens. Also played Lanna and Green Valley and Royal Chian Mai beats them hands down!

I played here in early Dec 05, paid about 1900 B on a weekday plus caddy fees. The fairways were nothing to crow about as maintenance was not up to par. For a bermuda fairway course, most of the time the ball doesn't sit up and is semi-buried. They are also uneven for many holes. Fortunately, I had a competent caddy otherwise, my round would have been terrible. As an observation, never expect to pay less than 1500 B to play golf on a respectable course anywhere in Thailand.

Its serene and peaceful situation overlooked by wooded hills and a temple make the long journey from Chiang Mai well worthwhile. Played late October and the course condition was satisfactory but not up to the level of Chiang Mai Highlands. The clubhouse facilities were adequate but now that it has been open for 13 years old there is a slightly faded look about it all. The course is varied, interesting and because of all the raised greens quite tough to score well on. The design is not the modern american style of "all water hazards and bunkers" but more subtle - thanks to Peter Thomson. It's still a delight, a must visit.

I played this course early Dec and my chief complaint is the fairways, which were not well maintained. The grass was fairly long and many fairways were not even. In many cases, the ball was even sitting up and was like in semi-rough. I had a good caddy and that sort of helped my round better. If the fairways are better kept, this is a very good course.

I would rate this course as one of my top 5 in Thailand. Beautifully maintained, true -- and tough -- greens, fabulous fairways, and some of the most picturesque views from the tee-box. You can't get a better game of golf for under a 1,000 baht in the Kingdom!

One of my favorite courses in Thailand. Small, well manicured greens and pot bunkers that are actually raked. Play it if you can.

Played here a few days back for the 1st time in a year. Great condition & I'd forgotten how much I enjoyed it. Cannot fault it at all. A good golf course design, unlike some where they fiddle around too much with too many hazards making it unfair. We're going back again next week!!

I live in Chiang Mai and the Royal has become my favorite course to play in the area. Its not a long course but it is challenging with all the beautiful trees that are located at each hole. Course is in great condition and caddies are good. A close second is the Highlands which has many bunkers and but no trees because its too new.
