Excellent. Best couse in the North, beating Santiburi by far. Course design is look like Muang Keaw (Bangna, Bkk), but in a very condition. Plenty of bunker (more than 200 bunkers) longside the hillside fairway. Fairway is like you play on the carpet. Green is pretty fast (fastest I've ever played). Only the clubhouse is not finished yet. But, after finishing, it would be pretty nice. You must try this couse. PS : My handicap is 6, but my score is 43-47 at this course (very challenging course), while I hit 37-37 at Cheing Mai Green Valley.

This is the best course in Chiang Mai. The blues actually take many of the bunkers out of play, but leave 220 yard drivers with a 5 or 6 to the greens. The practice facilities are excellent, and the clubhouse is standard over-the-top Thai style. The fairways and greens are excellent, and it is the type of course that you will love more each time you play it. You need to have the complete game to be successful. The fairways are wide and forgiving, in most cases, but second shots always put the mid-high handicappers with the question: go for it or not? The sand quality is consistent and good. There's water on the course, but it's not primarily designed to collect and resell balls. Instead, bunkers protect most greens demanding carefully selected and accurate shots. It's Chiang Mai's best course and the only one that stays busy during the "off" season. The only drawback is that the caddies are weak, on average, varying from totally incompetent to decent. 1/5 can read a putt. Some seem to think it is your job to pull club and mark balls. They're all spot-on with the flag and raking traps, however. Last negative: the pace of play is mixed. It really depends on the groups in front of you. The course is getting a number of Asian tour groups now that are "out for a day of golf." That translates into watching them take practice shots and plumb-bobbing their 4th putts. The owners and managers have built a world-class facility and need to step up and manage it accordingly: including telling the tourists to pick up the pace. The marshall(s?) seem to enjoy the cart-rides, but have never been seen making a comment to any group. It's a must play.

Fairly new course and clubhouse , course not easy to play , for long hitters , nice surroundings and well maintain , many very deep bunkers almost as on Scotland courses , easy to walk but loks like distance markers are not always right ,permanently a marchal on the course to check the pace and speed up the game , as a two ball he as moved us trough the 5 ball flights 3 times , very nice hotel and clubhouse .only 40 min from CMI

Esthetically the course is beautiful set amidst the rolling foothills 20 minutes from Chiangmai. After playing a few holes one gets the impression that the designer got a little carried away. There are more than 100 bunkers (not samll ones) on this course. Given that the greens are new it is close to impossible to keep the ball on the green. Approach shots that come up short stop dead and ones that land on the green bounce off the back and often into a bunker. The course is pretty much unplayable. I am a 6 handicap and I managed to keep the ball on only three greens. Hopefully the course will mature better but without some more thought put into the design this course will be very frustrating for anyone with a 10 handicap or higher.

Played The Highlands on Friday 9th March. Course is a real gem and does not look only 15 months old. Fairways - great, greens - great, bunkers - good and consistent. With fast undulating greens, a lot of water and strategically placed sand, this is a good test of any golfer. Caddies are still a bit green and their reading of yardages and greens needs to improve. Slightly better than Royal Chiang Mai - and that is true praise! Don't play against a woman for money here - we were fleeced by a 32hcp lady who shot 41 points - the ladies tees take 1500 yds off the course (only 5,000 yards but still par 72) and take most of the trouble out of play.

I'm not sure this is the best course that I ever played but its in the top 10 and definately the top 3 in Thailand. Only Santiburi in Chiangrai and Alpine in Bangkok compare to this gem. Take a cart though, the back nine is around the mountain.
