Greetings!
I
want to thank everyone who participated in our 1st
Annual Valentine’s Day Tournament this past Saturday. This
tournament was really incredible because on Monday of last week
we only had 24 golfers registered. However, one thing led to
another and miraculously we ended up with an excellent field of
50 players! As much as I am grateful for the nice turnout I
have to say you guys are KILLING US with the late
registrations! Please try to be more courteous to your
Executive Committee (EC), especially Mary because she has to
make all the pairings adjustments and me because I’m the one who
had to make about a gazillion calls to the Lakeside course to
juggle the tee-times reservations, as well as the food for the
Thai buffet dinner. We would sincerely appreciate your best
efforts to register early for March’s Almost St. Paddy’s Day
Tournament.

Anyway, the Royal Lakeside Golf course on Saturday was in very
good condition. We even got lucky with some nice crosswinds
that helped to make the day quite pleasant. Also, Khun Supa and
her Lakeside Staff hosted a terrific tournament.
Congratulations to the winners: Vinod Sachdev won the overall
Low Gross Score Trophy (83) and Ivan Miranda was the overall
Valentine’s Day Tournament Champion (82; net 67). Way to go
Ivan and Vinod!
For all the results please go to our Association Home Page and
Click on the "Past Events - Results" tab.
I
would like to send a big "Thank You" to those that helped
organize the Valentine’s Day Tournament. Especially everyone
who assisted with the tournament registration (VP Don Kling;
Membership Director Mary Eliades and Advisors Alistair Cooke,
Tim Sherry and Steve Romero) did his or her usual outstanding
jobs. As I mentioned on Saturday, please volunteer to help us
with the chore of tournament registration.
Finally, I would like to encourage everyone to support our
sponsors in return for the terrific prizes they provided. Even
if you just pop by to say: “Thank you for the prizes” the EC
would be very appreciative. Our major Sponsors for the last two
tournaments were:
Raja’s Fashion Rajawongse
Clothier
JW Marriott Hotel Four Seasons
Hotel
Venus Jewelry Outback
Steakhouse
Macdonald Golf Merry Wear Golf
Marine
Security Guard (MSG) Detachment – Bangkok
Thanks again and have a GREAT week Everybody!
Regards,
Roman
DIRECTIONS TO WORLD TRADE GOLF &
SPORTS CLUB:
The World
Trade Golf & Sports Club is located approximately 30 minutes
beyond President Country Club. There are several ways to get to
President CC; however, I am including a shortcut that many folks
do not know about:
- Take the Chonburi Motorway (HIGHWAY 7) to
Chonburi/Pattaya
- Take Outer Ring Road (HIGHWAY 9) toward
BANG PA IN
- Continue North on the Outer Ring Road (HIGHWAY
9) until you see the RAMKHAMHAENG ROAD Exit. Take
this exit and turn RIGHT.
- Go over TWO (2) FLY-OVERS to the traffic light and
turn RIGHT ON ROUTE 304.
- Continue on ROUTE 304. To make sure that
you are going the right direction, at about 8 miles you
will see a landmark at an intersection -- a Big Rooster
Statue on the right side. Also, about 2 miles beyond the
Big Rooster Statue you will PASS PRESIDENT COUNTRY CLUB
on your RIGHT.
- Continue on ROUTE 304 PAST President CC and
keep an eye open for ROUTE 3481
- Take a LEFT TURN at ROUTE 3481. Just
before you hit 3481 you will see a WHITE highway sign that says,
“WORLD TRADE GOLF & SPORT CLUB 26 KM.”
- After turning LEFT continue on ROUTE 3481
for approximately 4 miles (6.5 KM) until you see a
blinking traffic light. A good landmark to look for just before
this blinking traffic light is a WHITE highway sign that
says, “WORLD TRADE GOLF & SPORT CLUB 20 KM.” (This sign is a
little obscured but it will be before the blinking traffic light
at 4 miles)
- Take a RIGHT TURN at the blinking traffic
light.
- Continue on this road for 6 miles (9.7 KM)
until you see a WHITE highway sign that says “WORLD TRADE
GOLF & SPORT CLUB”
- Take a LEFT TURN in to the Golf Course.
TOTAL MILES FROM PRESIDENT COUNTRY CLUB IS 33 MILES (53 KM
If these directions are too confusing for you then GOOD LUCK;
you will never survive golfing in Bangkok! Just joking. Then
please consult the map in thaigolfer.com.
