Rules Governing U.S. Embassy Golf Association Tournament Play

Rules:
The U.S. Embassy Golf Association (the Association) abides by the Rules of Golf as defined by The United States Golf Association (USGA), and follows Local Rules as stipulated by the individual golf courses.

Eligibility:
Only U.S. Embassy Golf Association Members in good standing are eligible to win score-based prizes.  All participants (members and guests) are eligible to win technical prizes. 

Club Championship:
Members must play in at least three (3) monthly events during the regular season to be eligible to play in the end of year Club Championship on Memorial Day Weekend.

Handicaps:
All members must register for tournaments using their handicap maintained in Thaigolfer.com.  Members must input the scores of all rounds played (tournament and non-tournament) into the Thaigolfer.com On-Line Handicap System.  For tournament play the Association may accept Written proof of Handicap from another reputable Golf Association.  The Handicap Director will determine handicap acceptability on a case-by-case basis.

The Association will deduct “one half point” from Association Member’s handicap index for each month a score is not input into the Thaigolfer.com Handicap System. The Assciation does so to protect the field of golfers who faithfully submit his/her scores to maintain a true and honest handicap for tournament play. This system is in accordance with USGA Rules.

Flights: The Association uses 4 flights:

Flight Handicap
A up to 15 (The Association will determine flight cutoffs at each event based on the handicaps of the all participants)
B 16 to 25
C 26 to 36
Guest Guest or Association Members with no established handicap or Proof of USGA Handicap provided.

Tournament Scoring:

The Association scores using simple net scoring, except in unusual circumstances for special events.

Participants are separated into Flights A, B, C, and Guest.
The handicap is deducted from the gross score to produce the net score.

Prizes are awarded in the following priority:

1)  Champion (Low Net “Over All”)

2)  Low Gross Score

3)  1st, 2nd, 3rd Net score in each flight

In the event of ties the Association uses net score Countbacks beginning with the net score on the #1Handicap Hole, then working backwards until the tie is broken. If the tie is not broken after all 18 holes, then the award shall be issued jointly.

PLEASE NOTE30 minutes prior to the start of a tournament Executive Committee (EC) Respresentive(s) will announce the Local Rules of the course.  Moreover, the EC requests participants arrive not later than 30 minutes prior to the first tee time to allow those members handling registration to complete those activities and still have suffiicient time to warm up for the event.
